Yorkipoos for Sale & Adoption
Yorkipoos are great little dogs. They're a mix between the Yorkie and the Toy or Miniature Poodle. This breed of dog has got two sides to it; the gentle and loving versus the energetic and active. Either way, they're highly intelligent. Yorkipoos have a tendency to bark, so they have the potential to make excellent watchdogs. These dogs are loyal, friendly, companionable, and very cute. And since they're small and don't need excessive exercise, they're good for those who live in smaller apartments or homes and city living.
Continue reading to learn more about Yorkiepoos, a mix between the Yorkshire Terrier and the Toy or Miniature Poodle. Also known as the Yorkie Poo, Yorkiepoo or the Yorkie-Poo.
Popularity: Somewhat popular.
Trainability: The Yorkiepoo has been known as an easily trainable dog. In general, this breed is fun loving, good natured and eager to please his master. It's important to socialize this dog when they're young and still in puppyhood and to be gentle and kind during training. You'll yield the best results that way. Also, like with any other dog during training, remain patient and consistent. The Yorkie Poo has been known to easily learn obedience and various tricks, such as rolling over, giving paw, crawl, play dead, and dance.
Size/Weight: Small sized dogs, weighing in at an average of 3-14 pounds.
Origin Location/Date: The history of the Yorkie-Poo isn't absolutely certain, but just as so many other designer breeds, this breed likely first originated in the United States between 20-30 years ago. The reason for the cross breeding is to create a dog that garners the best traits of its parents. In this case, the parents would be the Yorkshire Terrier and either the Toy or the Miniature Poodle. Depending on the size of the Poodle, the resulting offspring may be on the larger or smaller size of the common range.
Energy Level: The Yorkiepoo isn't an overly energetic dog. It has moderate exercise requirements and much of that can be handled indoors. Of course, you'll want to walk your Yorkie Poo every day so it gets fresh air and remains socialized, but daily playtime and training sessions should cover most of what this dog needs.
Temperament: The Yorkie-Poo is generally a happy-go-lucky dog. It's got a zest for life and is mostly happy and playful. This is a companion dog that becomes easily attached to its family, so be sure to spend enough time with him. This breed isn't known for doing well in isolation, so if you have love to give, give it to this dog. The Yorkiepoo craves attention and will often try to become the center of it. Also, beware that if this dog doesn't get the attention he craves, he may become destructive and dig and jump on your couch cushions. Because this dog is suseptible to separation anxiety, this is a perfect companion for folks who have to stay at home for long periods or senior citizens.
Necessary Space: Because the Yorkiepoo is so small and because this dog's exercise requirements are minimal, this is a great dog for apartment living. Just be sure to walk him every day so he can see other dogs as well as people.
Talents: The Yorkie Poo has a big heart and a lot of love to give. This dog was bred as a companion and it's perfect for that. It's an entertaining friend who's funny and full of antics, so be ready.
Life Expectancy: 12-15 years.
Group: Not Applicable/Designer Breed.
