I read an article a few days ago regarding a dog food recall. Today, the recall has been expanded. Only a few brands were included in the recall a few days ago, but now many more brands are. The foods I'll list below potentially include harmful levels of vitamin D, which can cause damage to a dog's kidneys and can even be fatal to the animal. Believe it or not, laboratory tests have demonstrated that these foods can contain up to 70 times the normal or acceptable amount of this vitamin.

Listed below are the dog foods that are being recalled.

Nutrisca - Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food
Natural Life Pet Products - Chicken & Potato Dry Dog Food
Sunshine Mills - multiple varieties
ANF Pet - Lamb and Rice Dry Dog Food
Lidl Orlando - Grain-Free Chicken & Chickpea Superfood Recipe Dog Food
Kroger Abound - Chicken and Brown Rice Recipe Dog Food
Elm Pet Foods - multiple varieties
Ahold Delhaize - multiple varieties

If you have purchased any of these dog foods, don't feed them to anything and return them to the store from which you bought them. For more details regarding this recall in general, visit the FDA web page here.

If your dog has ingested any of these foods, they may be exhibiting certain symptoms. These symptoms may include:

- Vomiting
- Loss of appetite
- Excessive thirst
- Excessive urination
- Drooling
- Loss of weight

If your dog has eaten any of these foods and has also been exhibiting the one or more of the above symptoms, it's recommended that you discuss the situation with your veterinarian as soon as possible.

If you have any further information regarding this dog food recall, please add it below.
