So, you'd like a pet bird. That's great because birds make awesome pets. Here on PetClassifieds.US, we've got an ever growing inventory of birds from some of the most active and exciting bird sellers and breeders in the United States. Search our website to find the best bird for you. Before you do that though, please be sure to read some of what we've prepared for you down below. It's best that you educate yourself about what it takes to become and stay a responsible bird owner. Pet birds aren't for everyone and there are definitely some areas that will need daily attention, so be sure that you have the confidence and determination for the task.

Before we go any farther, ask yourself a few questions. Remember, many birds live for many decades and it'll be your responsibility to care for it for its entire life. Ask yourself: Is owning a bird something you just thought of or have you been considering it and researching it for a long time? How much money do you have? Besides the cost of the pet, you'll need to pay for vet visits, food, and toys. How much time do you have? Many birds require at least a half hour of attention per day and some birds require more. Who do you live with? Will other pets or humans affect the bird's life in a negative way? Are you good at cleaning? Bird cages require daily maintenance. Again, the money thing. Do you may enough money to pay for a pet sitter when you're on vacation or away? How old are you? Will you be able to own a bird for its entire life? Remember, the lifespan of many birds is in the decades. And finally, how much room do you have? Do you have the space for a bird and a rather large cage? All of these things (and probably more) need to be taken into consideration before buying your first bird. If you're an experienced owner, then you already know what's required of you.

Now that we've got that out of the way, let's get into the fun stuff. You want a bird, so you'll need to think about which one is best for you and your lifestyle. We encourage you to do as much research as you can to familiarize yourself with as many bird species as possible. While these feathered friends may look similar to one another, they oftentimes have wildly different requirements. They also act very differently from one another as well. So when you visit all of the different websites you'll undoubtedly come across during your search, keep an eye on personality types, amount of care and maintenance they'll require, how long they live for, how much space they'll take up in your apartment or house, and anything else you can think of. If you're in doubt about something, we encourage you to join a web forum like ours to ask questions of the experts. Check out our Pet Conversations forum on the homepage. In general though, any bird that you may be interested in should have bright clear eyes, feathers with a glisten and shine to them, and clean smooth feet. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, so you'll need to really dig into the particular species you are most interested in.

In our inventory, we've got dozens of varieties of birds for sale, so be sure to check out every single ad. Each bird really does have its own personality as well, so be sure to contact the seller to inquire about one you may be interested in. Bird owners tend to know their birds very well and they'll be likely to give you as much information as you ask for.

If you're looking to sell or advertise your bird for sale on our website, we'd like you to know that we welcome just about any species, as long as it's legal to sell. We've included a list of bird types below, but this certainly isn't exhaustive.
