Weimaraners for Sale & Adoption

Weimaraners are quite distinct and highly memorable dogs. They're absolutely beautiful with their short grey/blue fur and their muscular sleek bodies. This breed usually has docked tails and lovely eyes. The Weimaraner is a fast dog that was originally bred for hunting. In today's world, the dog is primarily kept as a pet, but it retains the energy level and fearlessness it has always had. If you choose to buy or adopt one of these smart, obedient, loyal, and beautiful dogs, be sure you've got the time and space for it. It's a high energy animal that needs tons of exercise and room to run.

Origin Location/Date: It's suggested that the Weimaraner is a mix between the Bloodhound, German Shorthaired Pointer, English Pointer, Great Dane, and the Schweisshunde. In 1943, the Weimaraner was recognized as a breed by the American Kennel Club and is still very popular today.

Energy Level: The Weimaraner is a country dog. He's a hunter and a sniffer and enjoys anything to do with the outdoors. This is an energetic dog that can take practically anything you can throw at it, so you'll need to exercise it vigorously. Long walks, runs, hikes and lots of swimming at all called for when it comes to owning this breed of dog, Even better, let the dog run free in a field or a very large fenced in back yard.

Temperament: Some first time dog owners may find the Weimaraner a challenge to own. It's a hunting dog that's well-suited for wide open spaces. It's sort of an aloof breed that may not pay much attention to humans. It also doesn't particularly get along with other dogs or smaller household pets. This is a highly intelligent and talented dog though, so if you do crack the code into training one of them, you'll be rewarded handsomely.

Necessary Space: You should not own a Weimaraner if you live in an apartment. You'll likely end up regretting your decision. Weimaraners are high energy dogs that require tons of exercise, so large open spaces are much more suitable.
