Must read the full description -- important info.
I am needing to rehome my 8 yr. old female American Bulldog. Her name is Brooke. She is the runt of a runt, so she is rather small (55-60 lbs.) compared to most American Bulldogs, but she is pure bred. My brother had her mom & bred her w/ a 3 time champion all white pure bred. I can provide pics of mom & dad if interested. I did not get Brooke papered as I had no reason to.
She is spayed, but is over due for vaccinations. I was a vet tech & used to work for a holistic vet who uses the Colorado State vaccination protocol, which uses vaccines judiciously. (I can explain if interested). She does have chronic ear infections & needs regular cleanings & ear medication.
I believe her ear issues are due to food allergies. She does best on a limited ingredient diet such as a fish or venison protein & possibly even grain free. Not required, but does help w/ her ears a lot. She also does really well w/ getting a long-acting steroid injection every 6-8 wks. (cost ~$40.00). Also, not required, but helps. If eating a good quality diet & getting the steroid injections, she does quit well w/ just an occasional ear cleaning. This is her only medical condition.
I am not trying to talk anyone out of wanting her, I just want to make sure you know what you're getting into. I see no reason to not expose all info. & then you turn around & take her to the pound for something unexpected.
I simply do not have the time or money to treat her as needed. She is a lover & mostly enjoys laying/sleeping on a soft, warm bed/couch/carpet/etc . She is quite lazy (but very lean). She is definitely not an outside dog. She prefers to go out to potty, then come right back in. She will stay out & play if you are out w/ her. She does not like to go out if rainy, snowy or muddy. Would be fine in a smaller space, such as an apartment. She does well w/ kids & male dogs. She does not get along w/ female dogs & she has not been exposed to cats. She is very protective & loyal to her family.
I am needing to rehome her b/c I work full-time, have small children, work-out & am just not home enough to give her the attention she needs. I find her staying in her cage in our lower laundry room most of the time b/c she doesn't like my b-friend (& he doesn't like her either). It makes me very sad to see her go as I have raised her since she was 2 wks. old (I had mom & siblings too until 8 wks). I just feel she is no longer happy in our situation & she needs someone who can spend more time w/ her.
I will be asking for references & your veterinarians name & number if you are interested. I want to make sure she is not going to be made into a fighting dog or anything else horrible. I would like to arrange a meet & greet & if all goes well a 2nd meet & greet for the dogs (if you already own other pets). Assuming all works out, I will call your veterinarian for a reference & then release her to you. It would be great to be able to keep in contact w/ whoever takes her. Be prepared to answer questions about your home: fence/other pets/children/food fed/etc.? Only serious inquiries please!
