When it comes to family life, the Egyptian Mau likes to be a part of everything. This isn't the type of cat to shy away and let others steal the show. This one will walk right out in the middle of everyone and steal it for him or herself. The breed, while playful and energetic at times, is mostly much less active than some of the more active breeds. It does have insanely fast reflexes though, so keep that in mind when it's playtime, when you think you can win the game. Being the wonderful companions Egyptian Maus are, they'll interact with you on a daily basis. They'll sit right on your shoulder if you're resting on the couch, they'll check out what's inside the refrigerator as you're looking inside for yourself, and they'll wake you up in the morning unapologetically. While this breed enjoys being handled and spending time with many people, it'll let you know when he or she wants to play or be held. This isn't the completely laid back type you might expect elsewhere. This cat is sort of the boss.
