Some information about Sylvia: She is a 1 year old ferret (she was born on October8, 2010). I bought her in a Cleveland pet store and she is a Marshall ferret. If youWikipedia "Marshall ferret," you'll see that the company tattoos their ferrets' right ears. Sylvia has two dots on her right ear, which means she was spayed and her scent glands were removed before I bought her.
Her color is Sable, as you can see from the pictures, which is a chocolate brown color. She's a pretty typical ferret in that she sleeps a lot but loves to come out to play when she's awake. She jumps around and likes to climb through tubes. She likes to climb into bags and hide things like socks (really endearing!). She doesn't like any o the ferret treats you can purchase so I keep her on the ferret food diet, which is high fat and protein. Ferrets are obligate carnivores so I never give her anything but her ferret food.
She's never lived with any other pets and I occasionally give her baths with a ferret shampoo. It's also a good idea to trim her nails. Her smell isn't too bad as long as I clean her cage every 2-3 days. I also took her on walks over the summer, which she enjoyed, and let her swim in the creek. I'm not sure she liked swimming too much, though.
