When Tom's father, a poor miller, dies, he leaves all his worldly possessions (a mill, donkey and an orange tabby cat) to his three sons.
Quick as a flash the eldest son claimed the mill. The middle brother claimed the donkey. Tom is horrified to learn that his inheritance, all that is left, is just a cat
But, he soon finds out, (as you will when you read this story), that Puss in Boots is no ordinary cat.
Tom was astonished when he found out that his cat could talk
"Things are not as bad as they seem," he said, with a purr. ... Find me a bag and a pair of boots and you'll see."
Knowing that his new master isn't happy with the situation, Puss comes up with some ingenious ways to make himself welcome and his new master very rich.
Soon Puss and Tom are part of an incredible adventure which includes a king, a princess and an ogre.
