Lovable Labrador | Culpeper, VA | 140152 | Labrador Retrievers

My 7 year old chocolate lab, Chewbacca (Chewy for short) needs a caring home with plenty of space to run and children to play with.
I adopted him from a shelter when he was about 1 year old, and loved him like my little boy. Unfortunately when we moved to a farm about 5 years ago and got chickens - which he mistook for new squeakies - and so eventually we had to give him to my neighbor. Even more unfortunately, my neighbor is uneducated in how to properly care for a dog like Chewy and was even beating him.
Just recently the long-awaited opportunity came for Chewy to return to my care. So once again I am spoiling my overgrown chocolate bar...But I can't keep him long because he dislikes the small pen we have, and I can't let him out because he'll chase the chickens again. Also I'll be leaving home soon and couldn't bear to keep him cooped up in a little apartment.
Chewy does have current vaccinations and is neutered and micro chipped, he loves other dogs and is gentle with children. He is very energetic and easily trainable. He is used to being outdoors but is also trained for indoors. I can email photos upon request. I would prefer to give him to a family either in the Fredericksburg VA or Culpeper VA area so that I can visit him every once in awhile.
